Memorization and Pastor Rick’s M&Ms

IMGP6416 300x200 Memorization and Pastor Ricks M&Ms

Not sure what kind of pictures I’m going to put in my faith blogs but I’m guessing some nature pics and I may be taking some pictures of my Bible on a table and the cross on top of our church. Who knows! I thought this was a calming picture that I took of small flowers blooming in our backyard, so we’ll give that a go in my first faith post!

You know…I just love church! It took me a little while to get there, which I’m sure I’ll be talking about over different blogs posts in the future, but if you don’t have a church family…seek one out! I love going and praising God and learning. I can honestly say, I don’t recall ever leaving our church in 12 years and feeling like I didn’t learn something new. And don’t even get the Flip Man going when our friend Rob Cupp speaks. Anyway, I digress.

Today, Pastor Rick focused on Psalm 119. What a wonderful Psalm but we focused on verses 6-19. He gave us M&M’s both literally (yeah we actually got M&M’s in big people church) but also as an acrostic. We covered 4 M’s with these verses:

Meet with God,
Magnify God
Memorize God’s word
Meditate on God’s word

Pastor Rick would be proud, I was paying attention! Anyway, I have to be honest, memorizing the word is hard for me. I don’t know why, I guess it’s because I haven’t really tried that hard to do it. I realized today that it is pretty important. A lot of times I will think of a verse and I may know the book but not the verse and I’ll have to go look it up. Conveniently, I now have my bible with me always because I have the bible app on my phone. But I realized today that this doesn’t take the place of having God’s word hidden in my heart. It truly would come in handy when I have weeks like this past week, where I am dealing with not so nice people in real estate transactions. It would help me to be a better light to the people that I encounter that truly need the Savior. And let me tell you I dealt with a few this week. I may have let God down a little but I’m trying be conscience of being God’s ambassador in my business. I’m clay being molded and I will fail but I think God wants our effort. That’s what I always tell Trey. It’s about effort, giving 100% to be better. And God’s word tells us that if we know His law, he will help us apply it in our lives. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees.” Psalm 119:11-12

Have a blessed day!
